DSE English Paper 2:Blog Entry

Blog Entry

Blog entry

Blog Entry Format

(Title/Heading)

Blog entry format

5 Things I Wish I Knew Before DSE” 或 “Why I’m Ditching Social Media (And You Should Too)”

(Introduction)

Blog entry format

(Body)

Blog entry format

(Conclusion)

Blog entry format

What do you think? Leave a comment below!”)

Blog Entry

It is widely acknowledged that…” 或 “In conclusion, it can be stated…”。

Blog Entry

  1. 真實性(Authenticity)

  1. 價值(Value)

(Readability)

Blog Entry Examples –

Why I’m Ditching My Smartphone (For 24 Hours)

Challenge accepted: I’m going phone-free for a whole day.

I know, I know – it sounds dramatic. But hear me out. Last week, I realized I’d checked my phone 167 times in one day. ONE DAY. That’s insane.

So tomorrow, my phone stays in a drawer. No Instagram, no WhatsApp, no endless scrolling. Just me, my thoughts, and probably a lot of awkward moments when I instinctively reach for my pocket.

Will I survive? Probably. Will I learn something? Hopefully. Will I cave after two hours? We’ll find out.

Wish me luck. I’ll report back on Wednesday with the results – assuming I remember how to use my phone by then.

School Uniforms: Why They’re Not as Bad as We Think

Okay, controversial opinion incoming: school uniforms aren’t the worst thing ever.

Before you come at me in the comments, let me explain. Yes, they limit self-expression. Yes, they can be uncomfortable. And yes, I’d love to wear my favorite hoodie to school.

But here’s what I’ve realized: uniforms remove a ton of pressure. No one’s judging your outfit. No one’s competing over brands. Everyone’s on equal footing, at least visually.

Plus, and I hate to admit this, but they make mornings so much easier. No staring at my closet for 20 minutes trying to decide what to wear.

Do I love uniforms? No. But do they serve a purpose? Maybe more than I initially thought.

What’s your take? Team uniform or team free dress?

Surviving Exam Season Without Losing Your Mind

Posted on March 15, 2024

So here I am, writing this at 11 PM on a Tuesday, surrounded by textbooks, empty coffee cups, and what I can only describe as a general sense of doom. Sound familiar? If you’re a DSE student, I bet it does.

Exam season is brutal. There’s no sugarcoating it. But over the past few months, I’ve learned (mostly through trial and error) that there are ways to get through it without completely burning out. And today, I want to share what’s actually worked for me – not the generic “just study harder” advice you’ve heard a million times, but real, practical strategies that kept me (relatively) sane.

The Myth of the All-Nighter

Let’s start with the biggest lie we tell ourselves: “I’ll just pull one all-nighter to catch up.”

I tried this. Multiple times. And you know what happened? I’d spend six hours “studying” but only actually absorbing about 30 minutes worth of content because my brain was basically mush. The next day, I’d be so exhausted that I’d need two days to recover. Not worth it.

What actually works? The boring but effective answer: consistent study sessions. I started breaking my study time into 45-minute blocks with 10-minute breaks. It sounds too simple to work, but trust me, it does. My retention improved dramatically, and I actually had energy left for, you know, living.

The Comparison Trap

Here’s something nobody talks about enough: social media during exam season is toxic.

You’re struggling with a past paper, so you take a “quick break” to scroll Instagram. Suddenly, you see your classmate posting about finishing their fifth practice exam of the day. Another friend shares their perfect study notes. Someone else is already celebrating because they’re “so prepared.”

And you? You feel like you’re drowning.

Here’s what I learned: people only post their highlights. That classmate who finished five practice exams? They probably spent three days procrastinating before that. Those perfect notes? Maybe that’s literally all they’ve accomplished this week. You never see the full picture.

I started limiting social media to 15 minutes a day during exam period, and honestly? Game changer. My anxiety dropped, and I could focus on my own progress instead of comparing myself to everyone else’s curated success stories.

The Power of Actually Taking Breaks

This might sound counterintuitive, but one of the best things I did for my exam prep was scheduling guilt-free breaks.

Not “breaks” where I’m sitting at my desk scrolling through my phone while feeling anxious about not studying. Real breaks. I’d go for a walk, watch an episode of something, have dinner with my family without checking my notes every five minutes.

These breaks actually made me more productive. When I came back to studying, I could focus properly instead of just staring at my textbook while my mind wandered.

Finding What Works for You

Here’s the thing: what works for me might not work for you, and that’s okay. Some people thrive with study groups; I need silence. Some people need detailed schedules; I work better with flexible goals. The key is experimenting and being honest with yourself about what actually helps versus what just makes you feel busy.

Final Thoughts

Exam season is tough, but it’s temporary. You’re going to make it through this. Some days will be harder than others, and that’s normal. Be kind to yourself, take care of your mental health, and remember: your worth isn’t determined by your grades (even though it feels like it sometimes).

If you’re reading this while stressing about your own exams, take a deep breath. You’ve got this. And if you have any survival tips of your own, drop them in the comments – we’re all in this together!

Stay strong, [Your Name]

  • Conversational

Blog Entry?

Have you ever wondered…”, “Let me share with you…”, “Here’s the thing…”
