Preposition用法|In、On、At點分?DSE英文最常見介詞錯誤一次搞懂

Preposition用法|In、On、At點分?DSE英文最常見介詞錯誤一次搞懂

為甚麼是 on Monday,但又是 in the morning?

為甚麼可以說 at school,又可以說 in the school?

究竟這裏應該用in、on、at,還是另一個preposition?

in=在裏面
on=在上面
at=在

  • on Monday
  • in July
  • at 8 pm
  • interested in science
  • good at English
  • responsible for a project

In、On、At點分?

Preposition
in 在一個範圍/空間之內 in Hong Kong, in the room
on 在表面/某一天/某條線上 on the table, on Monday
at 一個明確的位置點/時間點 at school, at 8 pm

Prepositions of Time:時間前面幾時用In、On、At?

  • 月份:in July
  • 年份:in 2027
  • 季節:in summer
  • 世紀:in the 21st century
  • 一段時間後:in two weeks
  • 日子的較大部分:in the morning / afternoon / evening

例如:

I will go to Japan in 2027.

I usually revise English in the evening.

  • 星期:on Monday
  • 日期:on 12 May
  • 特定日子:on Christmas Day

The mock examination is on Friday.

I have an English lesson on Saturday afternoon.

❌ in Monday
✅ on Monday

但:

✅ in the morning

✅ on Monday morning

  • at 7 pm
  • at noon
  • at midnight
  • at lunchtime
  • at night

例如:

The lesson starts at 6:30 pm.

I usually stop studying at midnight.

為甚麼是at night,但in the morning?

Prepositions of Place:地方前面又點用In、On、At?

  • in Hong Kong
  • in Kowloon
  • in the classroom
  • in the library
  • in a car

There are many tutorial centres in Mong Kok.

She is studying in the library.

  • on the desk
  • on the wall
  • on the second floor
  • on Nathan Road
  • on the bus
  • on the train

My notes are on the desk.

I revised the vocabulary on the bus.

in a car

但:

on a bus / on a train / on a plane?

  • at school
  • at home
  • at the station
  • at the airport
  • at the entrance

I will meet you at the MTR station.

She is still at school.

At school還是In the school?

Jenny is at school.

Jenny is in the school.

He is at the hospital.

He is in the hospital.

Arrive in還是Arrive at?很多學生不是錯在in/on/at,而是錯在搭配

arrive at the station
arrive at school
arrive in Hong Kong
arrive in Japan

❌ I arrived to the airport at 8.
✅ I arrived at the airport at 8.

go to school

Prepositional Phrase

Prepositional phrase

preposition + object

  • in the classroom
  • after school
  • with my friends
  • during the examination
  • because of the weather

I usually revise after school.

Many students feel nervous before the examination.

In the morning at school with my classmates in the classroom…

DSE Writing

時間範圍 in in 2027, in June
特定日期 on on Monday, on 5 May
時間點 at at 8 pm, at midnight
大範圍地方 in in Hong Kong, in the room
表面/樓層 on on the table, on the third floor
具體位置 at at school, at the station
興趣 interested in interested in history
擅長 good at good at English
依賴 depend on depend on the result
負責 responsible for responsible for the event
參與 participate in participate in a competition
申請事物 apply for apply for a scholarship
申請機構 apply to apply to HKU

以下幾組,比單純背in、on、at更值得DSE考生留意。

1. Interested in,不是interested on

❌ I am interested on science.
✅ I am interested in science.

be interested in

2. Good at,不是good in

❌ She is good in English.
✅ She is good at English.

She performed well in the English examination.

3. Responsible for

❌ Students are responsible of their own learning.
✅ Students are responsible for their own learning.

4. Depend on

❌ It depends of the situation.
✅ It depends on the situation.

5. Participate in

❌ Many students participated at the activity.
✅ Many students participated in the activity.

6. Apply for與Apply to不是同一回事

apply for a scholarship
apply for a job

apply to a university

I plan to apply to the university for a scholarship.

interested = 有興趣
in = 在裏面

be interested in something

in / on / at / of / for / to

interested in
good at
responsible for
depend on
apply for
participate in

I am interested in studying psychology at university.

interested on
discuss about
arrive to
in Monday
responsible of

「呢度究竟係in、on定at?」

Preposition

第一步:先處理最高頻的in、on、at

第二步:將Verb/Adjective連Preposition一起學

interested

要學:

interested in

responsible

要學:

responsible for

到底是in、on、at、for還是of?

當 interested in、responsible for、good at、depend on 這些組合變成你的語感,preposition便不再是一堆每次都要重新猜的規則,而會慢慢變成寫英文時自然的一部分。
